Description
A pair of finely carved mid-19th century rosewood side chairs in the Victorian taste, each with a shaped and moulded balloon back centred by a pierced and scrolling horizontal splat. The cresting rails are richly carved with acanthus and foliate ornament, flowing into elegantly curved uprights that create a refined, serpentine outline.
The overstuffed seats are generously proportioned, providing a comfortable, cushioned sit, and are upholstered in a light patterned fabric finished with a narrow decorative trim. The depth of the upholstery complements the robust yet elegant frame, enhancing both comfort and visual balance.
Raised on turned and reeded front legs with carved collars, and supported by splayed rear legs, the chairs exhibit both strength and poise.
